Massachusetts MV Crash Reporting First!
Press Release
QED First Company Approved For Submitting MV Crash Data
Q.E.D. has officially received notification and approval from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles
for the electronic submission of Massachusetts CRASH accident data. It should be noted that Q.E.D. is the
first and only CAD & Records vendor to meet the guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts RMV and Massachusetts
Highway Department for this project.
The process of electronic submission eliminates the need to fax copies of the accident reports to the Registry.
Of course if a department wants to fax copies directly to the RMV, the Q.E.D. CRASH program now prints an exact
replica of the report for printing. From a technical point of view, all that is required for electronic
transmission is internet access from the Q.E.D. Webpartner server.

Today there are over 30 departments that benefit from CrimeInfo's easy-to-use query menus, map creation, and map production capabilities. CrimeInfo is a near real-time administrative, strategic and tactical analysis tool designed for crime analysts in larger towns and medium-sized cities.
CAD Mapper(tm) was designed to work with QED dispatching systems in 1999, and today there many QED clients that have deployed this real-time dispatch mapping solution. Cad Mapper works with Acuity CAD, Q.E.D.'s web-based dispatching system, and is based on the same map databases that support the CrimeInfo product. CAD Mapper enables the dispatcher to immediately view the location of a live call on a map, measure distances, and identify specific latitude/longitude positions if access by aircraft or boat is required.
A "mobile" version of CAD Mapper(tm) was released in 2003 for use in emergency response vehicles, and enables field personnel to identify call locations on maps and to quickly identify the immediate surroundings at a glance. It has rapidly gained acceptance and is installed in over 100 vehicles in various agencies today.

Arlington, MA Police
Press Release
Arlington Police go on-line with CrimeWeb™ Incident Management System
Officers in Arlington, Massachusetts can now browse the daily logs, enter and manage incident reports, and view offender's images utilizing Microsoft's Internet Explorer™ from their cruisers or anywhere in the town with access to their Public Safety intranet. This new Web based technology is made possible with the release of CrimeWeb from Malden, Massachusetts based Q.E.D., Inc.
CrimeWeb is an integrated collection of law enforcement software applications for capturing, managing and analyzing information through a common, familiar web interface.
At the core of CrimeWeb is the Incident Reporting Management System. The system was designed to be used from mobile units or in the station utilizing the latest in CDPD and web technologies. Reports are being entered, reviewed, updated and browsed in real time and the supervisors have the ability to reject reports and send them back to the user. Full application security dictates the capabilities of each user.
Perhaps the best feature of CrimeWeb is the ability to provide hyperlinks to other modules. Hyperlinks take the user from CAD Incident to Police Report to Arrest History to the Booking Sheet (with images) with just a few clicks. Just like being on the WEB!
Q.E.D., Inc. has been producing Public Safety Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management Solutions for Law Enforcement and Fire Agencies for over 15 years. As a privately held, financially stable firm with continuous growth, Q.E.D. has realized their vision of bringing WEB based technologies to the public safety market.

Burlington, MA Police
Press Release
Burlington, MA Police utilize tomorrow's technologies today
When the Burlington Police Department needed to upgrade their aging public safety servers, the opportunity presented itself to re-evaluate the state of their public safety technologies environment. Entering into an agreement with Q.E.D., the Burlington Police Department made the decision to migrate their databases to a high end DELL-Windows 2000 server and upgrade to Q.E.D.'s Acuity CAD, Dispatch Anywhere mobile interface, Acuity Booking with live imaging and many other web based applications, including CrimeWeb Incident Reporting and interfacing to the State's LiveScan system.
The databases stored on the old UNIX server were transferred to a DELL server running Windows 2000. The new server is equipped with RAID 5, dual power supplies, dual processors and dual network cards. Jack Olson of Q.E.D. said "Since the database was going to be stored on the DELL-Windows server, we wanted to reduce any single point of failure that would effect their day to day operations". In addition to being more secure and reliable, the new system has provided a 10 fold increase in speed over the aging UNIX server that was replaced.
Officer Rob Healey, system administrator, of Burlington is quoted as saying " that the transition to this new software, particularly Acuity CAD was virtually seamless. We had an officer, relieving a dispatcher on a meal break, learn Acuity in ten minutes and was impressed with how intuitive the software was. We have showcased this software to our other Town departments and they have been impressed with the level of technology and ease of access to our databases that Q.E.D.'s software provides."
Since the new software is designed to give the look and feel of being on the web, the end users had relatively no problems navigating the new applications. In the mobile environment, Dispatch Anywhere has enhanced communication between dispatch and field units and provided information to officers on patrol including arrest histories and color images of offenders. In addition, patrol officers can now do their reports from the field making them readily available to respond to emergencies.
When the latest releases of Acuity software were created, Q.E.D. envisioned an environment that would take advantage of the latest technologies available in the public safety market. We're proud to say that the Burlington Police Department has taken advantage of this and proven that the vision is now a reality.
